David Cahill did it – 120 miles of the Ring of Kerry – you’ve still time to sponsor him to celebrate this brilliant effort.

In his own words … ‘David Cahill is a 60 year old, overweight, grandfather. What kind of crazy guy is he to want to cycle 180 Km (120 miles) in a day, up and down hills – the highest of which is 860 feet above sea level and goes all the way from seaside up a 9% gradient – to the very top.

Well, he is doing it for Network training and counselling (https://network.org.uk/) cos his wife is a trustee. Network provides low cost counselling to people all over Bristol.  Please support him in this crazy endeavour. ‘

Congratulations to Martin van Eker one of our counsellors who on Friday 18th May completed the 182 mile walk of Offa’s Dyke. Martin has so far collected over £2,000 for Network Counselling.

If you have an idea for a sponsored event that could follow in Martin’s footsteps – and it doesn’t have to be walking then please do let us know at info@network.org.uk

Monday 4th June saw the launch of The Listening Ear Project, a place where people can come, talk, offload in a safe place with a trained volunteer and, where appropriate, be signposted to appropriate agencies and charities.

The Listening Ear Project was developed by Revd Lizzie Gregory and Anne Duke of Network Counselling and Training. Read more about the project here.

Why not get more involved in the future of Network Counselling and Training. Our AGM will be held on 25th January 2018 at our new premises at Elm Park, Filton BS34 7PS.  Notice of AGM Jan 2018

Thank you so much for all your support we exceeded our £15,000 donation target during the Christmas Challenge week and overall all with Gift Aid and Match Funds we will have raised £38,500 to enable us to complete the work in the first floor flat and also to have some money left over to finish the garden area. We expect to start this work with Bristol Together in January and it will help us give construction skills and mentoring to at least 4 ex-offenders. Brilliant work!

We will keep our blog updated as things progress.

…  if you are interested in supporting 2 great causes for the cost of supporting 1 and even better interested in having the money that you give doubled by someone else, as well able to be Gift Aided (if you are eligible), then please do read on.

We are working with Bristol Together who train and mentor ex-offenders in construction skills to refurbish the old caretaker’s flat at our new premises in Elm Park, Filton to change it into counselling support spaces and training areas for Network Counselling and Training. We are looking to start on site soon and have this completed before the end of January 2018.

This project, that will directly benefit individual ex-offenders working through Bristol Together and also those who come to Network for Counselling and Training, has been accepted by The Big Give Christmas Challenge and we have match funding from The Reed Foundation and some other generous individuals such that, provided we raise £15,000 online between midday on 28th November and midday 5th December, the money raised will be doubled by the match funders.

In simple terms if you give £10 and it was gift aided we would get £22-67! This includes for a small administration fee by the Big Give that is similar to all the other online giving sites.

You must only donate online between midday 28th November and midday 5th December for the money to be doubled.

Either go to https://secure.thebiggive.org.uk to find out more and enter Network Counselling into the charity name box or, go straight to our donation page at https://secure.thebiggive.org.uk/donation/to/64140/28553/
