I came into counselling after a long career of more than 20 years as a Primary School Teacher. I have been involved with Network since 2016, as a student, a skills facilitator, a tutor on the Introductory courses and now a member of the Advanced Certificate team. Having benefitted so hugely as a student with Network, it is a privilege to work alongside students as they step into their training journey.

In addition to my training role, I also have a small private practice.

Louise Mill

I’m Louise Mill, Course Leader on the Advanced Diploma and Tutor for Diploma students in years 1 and 3.

I have been part of the training team at Network for over 13 years, having done my own counselling training here. The person-centred approach resonates strongly with me, both as a way of being and as a means of growth and healing. I have a passion for sharing this with others and it is a joy and privilege to see students grow and develop as they experience the life changing power of the person-centred approach for themselves.

Outside of Network I run a small private counselling and supervision practice.

Sara Couzens

I’m Sarah Couzens, Skills Tutor on the Advanced Certificate course, and Trainer on our introductory courses.

I completed my training at Network in 2019 after a long career in teaching, lecturing and advisory work for children with special educational needs and disabilities.  Having received such life-changing training as a Network student myself, I am keen to support other students on their journey so am delighted to be part of the team.

I also run a small private practice and work as a counsellor in a large secondary school in Oxfordshire.

Sue Cater

My background is in further education and youth work, which has included a focus on working with people with learning difficulties. I did my counselling training with Network some years ago and found it to be a life-enhancing and enriching experience. The person-centred approach in general – and the core self model in particular – have come to resonate deeply with my way of being and working.

Alongside my training work, I have an established private practice as a counsellor and supervisor.

Rhianan Lowes

I’m Rhianan Lowes, Senior Tutor on the Advanced Diploma team.

My previous experience includes working in several charity roles in the homeless sector and deprived areas of economic need across Bristol. I also worked as a volunteer presenter on community radio for several years.  I have been a qualified counsellor since 2016 and later trained in relationship counselling as well as counselling supervision.  I taught level 5 Psychotherapeutic Counselling for 4 years prior to joining Network and have had the privilege of seeing several cohorts complete their qualification to become fully qualified counsellors.

Outside Network, I have my own private practice seeing clients as well as supervisees, both qualified and student counsellors.

Emma Duncan

I’m Emma Duncan and I work on the Advanced Diploma course with Rhianan.

My background is in youth and community work, usually with those on the edges of society. I realised I needed counselling in my toolbox, so retrained at the University of Bristol and started in private practice in 2012. I have loved returning to education as an adult (I perhaps didn’t make the most of it first time around!) and believe that when someone finds the right course at the right moment it can be profoundly life changing. I have worked at Bath Spa University as a tutor on a research Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and enjoy the academic, as well as the practical side, of counselling.

Rachel Kempsell

I’m Rachel Kempsell, I joined the training team in 2021 and currently hold the role of Year 3 Tutor for one of the Advanced Diploma cohorts.

I have worked with young people in schools, charity settings and private practice for 10 years.  I work creatively and facilitate expression through words, drawing, painting, clay, sand and poetry.  Person-centred thinking is central to everything I do.  I integrate this with gestalt, psychodynamic, and CBT trauma processing approaches.

As well as teaching at Network I work as a school counsellor, a private clinical supervisor, and at The Green House supporting teenagers who have been through sexual abuse.
